I have been a physical therapist at Spaulding for the past 15 years. During that time, I've had the privilege of caring for patients with a wide variety of clinical conditions. I am now the Program Director of the Comprehensive Rehab Program and the Director of Physical Therapy.
Marathon Day has always been a special day — so many staff participate either by running, volunteering to set-up wheelchairs for the wheelchair racers or assisting in the medical tents. On April 15th, Spaulding was 12 days away from moving to our new hospital. The tragic events of April 15th forever changed the way I view the Boston Marathon. Marathon Day was always a great day but now it has a more personal meaning and significance to me and the entire hospital staff.
I'm running the Boston Marathon to honor all those involved in the events of April 15th. The courageous patients we treated on the Comprehensive Rehab Program, their understanding and patient parents and family members, the professionalism and determination of the PT staff and the tremendous support of the entire hospital. Performing our challenging jobs in a brand new building was, in itself, a challenge and I couldn't be more proud of the pride, professionalism, and dedicated teamwork of our staff.
I will keep Spaulding's motto of Find Your Strength with me as I train through the grueling Boston winter months to reach the finish line. I hope that you will consider making a donation to support me in reaching my $5,000 goal.
